april 2019: eden burkow

Our April Leading Woman of the Month is Eden Burkow! Eden is a Communications major with a minor in Business Law and Consumer Behavior. Eden is currently a social media intern at SkinTē, the VP of Development for USC Hillel, working to revive her real estate license, and started a Zine with two of her friends, Gen-Zine.com! Eden also is a member of the Women’s Leadership Society, the Brand Relations and Partnerships Co-Director for Spoon University, and raises awareness about food insecurity with Challah for Hunger.  In her free time, Eden enjoys hiking, health and wellness, being in the know with new trends, trying new restaurants, and golfing. We are so proud of you Eden, congrats! 

march 2019: shania goldfein

Congrats to our March Leading Woman of the Month, Shania Goldfein! Shaina is from Atlanta Georgia, and will be graduating this May a full year early with the highest honors! Next year she will be attending the London Business School to earn her bachelors and masters degree within 4 years! Shaina has been awarded 10 USC affiliated scholarships and awards over the past three years. In her free time, Shaina enjoys art, running, yoga, tennis, and writing music. She has completed various service activities including math tutoring through JEP and teaching guitar to high school students with under-funded music programs through SLAM! Shaina worked this last summer in London and is working at a technology start-up this summer in New York City. Congrats Shaina, Theta loves you!

february 2019: AP Carter

Congrats to our February Leading Woman of the Month, AP Carter! AP is a freshman double majoring in Earth Science and Environmental Studies. She is from San Antonio Texas and is extremely involved on USC’s campus. AP volunteers for Back on My Feet, an organization which helps homeless people earn housing and employment opportunities in Los Angeles. As a member of ROTC, AP hopes to join the Air Force upon graduation. In her free time, you can find AP working out, hiking, flying airplanes, or scuba diving! We are so happy to welcome AP into Theta!

january 2019: casey dutton

January’s Leading Woman of the month is Casey Dutton! Casey is a junior from Riverside, California majoring in Health and Human Science. Casey coached swim and dive for two years and discovered her love for working with children. This past summer, Casey worked at Camp Conrad Chinnock, a camp for children with type one diabetes, as an aquatics director and counselor. As a type one diabetic herself, Casey is passionate about health and educating kids about diabetes management and healthy living. Casey hopes to become a certified diabetes educator and work with children with type one diabetes in the future. When she is not helping others, Casey loves embroidering, sailing, hiking, swimming, and Zumba! Congrats Casey, Theta loves you!

december 2018: mikayla tejero

Congrats to our December leading woman of the month, Mikayla Tejero! Mikayla is a business administration major from San Jose, California who will be graduating at the end of this fall 2018 semester. During her time at USC, she has been an active member of the highly ranked USC Model United Nations holding positions as delegate and director of financial affairs as well as a member of the Theta bylaws committee last spring. She has also held internships with corporate law firms as well as for Harley Rouda in Congress. In the future, Mikayla hopes to attend law school and become an attorney and work on presidential campaigns! When she is not working hard in and outside of Theta, Mikayla is doing yoga, traveling, and learning more about international affairs. We will miss you Mikayla!

december 2017: spencer petty

Congratulations to our December Leading Woman of the Month, Spencer Petty! Spencer is a current sophomore from Nashville, Tennessee majoring in Journalism. Spencer’s passions include service, traveling, and event planning. Here at Theta, Spencer is our Service Director, but along with that she does so much more! Spencer is a Undergraduate Student Government Business Relations Intern, and over the summer, she worked for Legacy PR and Events in Nashville to plan a celebrity golf tournament and auction for a non-profit that prepares and delivers healthy meals to cancer patients. In 2015, Spencer was crowned the National American Miss Tennessee Teen. She then founded the Tennessee Miss Amazing, a non-profit providing opportunities for girls and women with disabilities to build confidence and self-esteem in a supportive environment. From 2013 to 2016, Spencer served as the Tennessee State Director and is now the California Miss Amazing Participant Outreach Coordinator. We are so proud of everything you’ve already accomplished, and always remember that Theta loves you! 

november 2017: kristin robinson

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month of November, Kristin Robinson! She is currently a sophomore majoring in Music Industry minoring in Music Production. Kristin is also a member of the Theta’s 2017 Nomination Committee. Her greatest passion, apart from songwriting, is community service. She created the annual benefit concert, Music for Mental Health, in her hometown of Fort Worth, TX as a sophomore in high school to empower young performers, reduce the stigma of mental illness, and raise money for suicide prevention and counseling services in North Texas. She is also the recruitment director and lead piano instructor at SLAM USC, a non-profit music education organization which provides free music classes to underfunded schools in Los Angeles. On campus, Kristin is a DJ for KXSC, a music journalist for The Tab USC, and a member of Music Industry Connection (MIC). Kristin often performs around the city and has applied the skills she learned from her internship at the management company, Yebo music, in New York City this summer to managing the folk/rock band “The Brazen Youth” on her own. This summer, she will be releasing her EP! We are so proud of everything you have accomplished and can’t wait to see what the future has in store. Always remember that Theta loves you!

october 2017: kiran ebrahim

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for October, Kiran Ebrahim! She is currently a freshman majoring in Business Administration. To say that she is highly accomplished would be an understatement. She created her own start-up in high school called Inconspicuous to empower rape and domestic abuse survivors as well as provide them with lawyers and safety from nearby shelters. If that isn’t short of amazing, Kiran also lobbied and passed two bills, Girls Count Act and Girls Refugee Education, for the Girl Up United Nations Organization on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. In addition, she gave a TedxTalk in Spanish about gender inequality in Latin America and ways non-violent movements can help mitigate this social issue. Kiran was chosen as Atlanta Magazine’s 2017 Women Making a Mark Campaign’s Rising Star (http://www.atlantamagazine.com/women-making-a-mark/kiran-ebrahim/). She has played flag football for 8 years, had the opportunity to represent team USA in Dubai for flag football, and has traveled and volunteered in over 40 countries. She hopes to be a social entrepreneur in the future! Kiran, we are so amazed by all that you have accomplished and we are so excited to stand by you while you change the world. september 2017: olive numeroff

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for September, Olive Numeroff! Originally from New York City, Olive is majoring in East Asian Languages and Cultures and minoring in Marketing. After completing her major requirements, she wants to pursue a progressive masters degree in East Asian Languages and Cultures. On campus, Olive is the president of USC Ice Girls and also a member of Expat Society. She has traveled to China a total of seven times to study and intern, and may even want to work there when she graduates. This past summer, she interned in Taiwan at Richemont Group, a luxury watch and jewelry brand owner. She also took a cross country road trip from New York City to Los Angeles, stopping in over 10 states! This semester, Olive will be interning at Tinder for their marketing department. In the future, she hopes to be able to fuse her interest in marketing with her passion for Chinese language to communicate to a larger global community. We can’t wait to see the amazing things you will accomplish! We are so proud of you and always remember that Theta loves you!

august 2017: maggie suszka

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month, Maggie Suszka. She grew up in the heart of downtown Chicago and graduated high school as a two time All State Field Hockey Player. She was recruited to play at a small school in D.C. before transferring to USC as a sophomore. She explored her love of writing through both songwriting and english courses, before pursuing a degree in print and digital journalism as well as a minor in Marketing. She enjoys publishing both video and print content and especially hearing and sharing people’s life stories and experiences. This is evident from her role as Director of Marketing and Digital Public Relations at the global community, half the story. This past summer she spent in New York City as a Merchandising Intern at Yankee Stadium. This upcoming fall semester she will be a Marketing Intern for Paramount Pictures in Hollywood! Once she graduates, she hopes to continue exploring her love for writing, living every day like the last, and trying to live in every major city for at least three months! june 2017: libby takimoto

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for June, Libby Takimoto! She is a junior studying Business Administration and Accounting. Libby is our newly appointed Facility Director! Libby was on the USC competitive cheer team where she traveled to Florida to compete at NCA nationals and Anaheim for USA nationals. On campus, she is a photographer for the Daily Trojan, and volunteered with JEP where she taught students at local elementary schools. She is currently working as a marketing coordinator for 10 Count Records, a label company based in LA. This summer Libby went to panama to consult with business owners from a small rural community with Marshall’s global brigades program. When she graduates, Libby hopes to move to Paris! We are so proud of all your accomplishments and always remember Theta loves you.

may 2017: anna catinis

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for May, Anna Catinis! Anna is a senior studying Health and Human Sciences, Spanish, and Health Care Studies. She serves on the Executive Recruitment Board as IT director. When Anna is not studying, she dedicates her time to helping her community. She does research on how to reduce radiation from unnecessary CT scans on pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, volunteers with USC’s Mobile Clinic to offer medical services to the homeless population in Los Angeles and serves on the executive board of Global Medical Brigades where she goes on Brigades to communities in South America to offer medical services. Her volunteering doesn’t stop there! She is a Trojan Health Volunteer, assisting in local clinics around Los Angeles and also tutors Syrian refugees through Skype. Anna just completed her MCAT in pursuit of attending medical school to become a doctor. Your dedication to helping others amazes us and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. We are so proud of everything you have accomplished and always remember that Theta loves you!

april 2017: nicole farage

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for April, Nicole Farage. Born and raised in NYC, Nicole attended a dual curriculum high school, and is a dual citizen of Israel and the U.S. She came into USC with several merit scholarships and has continued to be awarded more throughout her 4 years. During her Sophomore year, Nicole launched the popular collegiate clothing brand, Victorywear Apparel. While initially a USC brand, Victorywear has expanded to 10 universities around the country and is continuing to grow! Nicole was awarded the Top Undergraduate Venture Award and the Pound the Pavement Award for Victorywear. Last year when Nicole was abroad in Thailand, she was able to go to a nature sanctuary to work with rescued elephants, which was an incredible experience. We are so proud of all you have accomplished and always remember that Theta loves you! 

march 2017: aya shimizu

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for March, Aya Shimizu! Aya is currently a freshman majoring in computer science with a minor in 3D computer graphics and modeling. Not only is Aya extremely accomplished in the classroom, but also is very involved in many on campus organizations. Aya is one of the representatives for the women in engineering advisory board. She is also on the 2017 song girl team. Her future career goal is to work for a company like Pixar enhancing their graphics and animation movie software. You continue to amaze us with your accomplishments every day. Always remember that Theta loves you!

february 2017: anna volkmann

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for February, Anna Volkmann! Anna is a Sophomore, majoring in Health and Human Sciences with a minor in Forensics and Criminality. During her first semester of college, Anna had the opportunity to study abroad in Paris, France, where she took classes and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe. In addition to being the Executive Assistant for the Omicron chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta, she was recently hired as a Tour Guide for the USC Admissions Office. Anna is also a member of the student-run dance company, Xpressions Dance Company, as well as a member of the USC Chapter of MEDLIFE, a nation-wide organization that works to bring healthcare to under-served communities in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. She recently traveled to Lima, Peru, with MEDLIFE where she volunteered as a medical assistant and helped to treat and educate community members at mobile health clinics. We are so proud of you Anna, and remember Theta loves you!

january 2017: sophie faude

Congratulations to our Leading Woman of the Month for January, Sophie Faude! Sophie is a Health and Humanity major with a minor in Health Care Studies as well as being in the Thematic Option Honors Writing Program. On top of being a Kappa Alpha Theta Ann Guerin Scholarship recipient and a National Merit Scholar, she is currently a research assistant at the Dinosaur Institute of LAC Natural History Museum and a volunteer teaching assistant at the Keck School of Medicine. She recently went on a medical brigade to Nicaragua where she served over 1000 patients in a small village. We are so proud of you Sophie and remember that Theta loves you!

december 2016: alana lei

Congratulations to Alana Lei for being our Leading Women of the Month for December! Alana is currently double majoring in computer science and business administration. She will be interning with bedrock.la next semester as a studio engineer. She is also a teaching assistant for a computer science course and has taught coding to a local school in the area. After interning with Intel this past summer, she landed an internship with Facebook in Seattle for this upcoming summer. She is a member of the USC Rock Climbing team and is a DJ for KXSC (the college radio station). She has a passion for the outdoors and also ran with the bulls this past summer in Pamplona. We love watching you strive for excellence. Keep doing what you do and remember Theta loves you!

october 2016: sophia oddi

Our Leading Woman of the Month for October is new member, Sophia Oddi! Sophia was born in Rome and raised in Monte-Carlo. She is part of the inaugural class of the Glorya Kaufman School of Dance here at USC and she is picking up a minor in Art History. Sophia is an aspiring choreographer and she plans on joining a company and traveling the world. She is involved with Artists Collaborative which is an up-and-coming gallery on campus that will display collaborative work. If you didn’t think Sophia was already cool enough, she has performed for the Prince and Princess of Monaco! Keep up the amazing work, Sophia!

september 2016: caitlin hoversten

Our Leading Woman of the Month for the month of September is junior, Caitlin Hoversten! Caitlin hails from El Dorado Hills, CA and she is studying Environmental Studies with a concentration in sustainability, energy, and society. She spent her freshman year abroad in Paris and played soccer on a French club team during her time there. This past summer, she managed a Kumon math and reading center and volunteered as a soccer coach and soccer camp counselor. Caitlin is described by her friends as a ray of sunshine who is always up for anything! We are so proud of you, Caitlin!

august 2016: helen petrow

Our Leading Woman of the Month for the month of August is rising senior, Helen Petrow! Helen is originally from Kansas City and she is a Dean’s List student in the Marshall School of Business focusing on Entrepreneurship and Finance. She spent her last semester studying abroad in both Paris, France and Austria. Last summer, she served as Theta’s Recruitment Director and this summer she has been working at a boutique asset management firm as a wealth management associate. We are so impressed with all that you have accomplished so far, Helen and we can’t wait to see what comes next!
